1982...Pebble Beach...#17...

it’s one of the iconic moments in golf history—Tom Watson chipping from the deep rough near the green of the picturesque Par 3, 17th at Pebble Beach. His caddie, Bruce Edwards, told him to get it close. Watson had other ideas and said he was going to sink it. That magnificent chip-in gave him the lead in what became his first U.S. Open title.

Stainless steel construction and a large clubface allow the center of gravity to be located lower and deeper for better playability from a variety of lies. Optimized sole shaping minimizes digging into the turf for superior performance from both sand and thick rough Tom Watson's preferred sole grind allows for easy to hit shots with a square or open club face. Maximum groove volume provides the best possible spin and control.

I bought this club because I like Tom Watson and was intrigued by the word "Anniversary". When I unwrapped the club I knew I wasn't going to use it, it's too pretty. The club head is finished nicely in brushed satin and sand blasted stainless steel. The "Tom Watson" signature appears on the club head, shaft and grip. I just can't see hitting a rock with this club, so I'll find a place to display it.
