The #1 Amateur Golf Ball at the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am

TaylorMade engineers have designed a radically new ball for competitive mid-handicappers who need more approach-shot spin. Project (a) is long off every club and feels great. Best, it helps you generate the extra spin you need to stop the ball closer to the hole, leaving you shorter putts to promote lower scores. Project (a)'s game-changing spin comes from SOFT TECH. TaylorMade's new cast urethane cover that's specially formulated to be soft, durable, and very responsive. And the performance was validated almost immediately:

At the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, more amateurs put their trust in the performance of Project (a) than any other ball. The challenging courses of the Monterey Peninsula are the ultimate proving grounds and an incredible 83 amateur golfers played Project (a). Nearest competitor model? 25. When the dust settled and the leaderboard was final on Sunday, Project (a) helped bring home the victory to seal another #1 for the week. The most discerning amateur golfers in the world saw incredible distance off the tee, and increased spin around the greens where amateur golfers need it the most. The cast urethane cover enables superior greenside performance to stop the ball closer to the pin for shorter putts and lower scores. Imagine the performance gains you’ll see when you try Project (a).

3 pc. 360 dimple. Soft Tech urethane cover. 86 ball compression

Good value balls
April 23, 2014
Another good ball from TMag. I use Penta's and Lethal's also, can't describe the comparison just yet but the feel is good.

Project (a)
August 28, 2015
I bought these as a gift to myself. As my golf game improves I better understand the difference between balls and how they affect my game. This ball spins great, with control and rolls true for the most part. I did find that I lost a little distance but getting closer on the second shot has improved scores.

Hard time deciding between these and chrome soft
August 23, 2015
Both balls are great however as a callaway club user and an r15 driver and wood user I had a very hard time using both balls for 5 or 6 rounds and I and going to stick with taylormadr balls.
Pros:
They have a softer feel than the titliest pro v 1 balls but do not scuff like other soft balls. But you have to try both to find the one you like. When I say both I mean chrome soft and these. It was a hard choice.

soft feel but cracked one
August 23, 2015
This ball plays well in the short game. Cool double numbers. It does lose some distance compared to other balls. Managed to crack one open with a driver.
Pros:
feel putting short game
Cons:
distance durability

Purchased for my 14 yr old son. He has plenty of distance but needed more control with his wedges. This ball gives both.

great ball for 55-65 of age
June 6, 2015
if your swing speed has slowed you may want to think about this ball its stays in the air and does not fall out of it like some of the others --good fel around the greens and puts very well
Pros:
hit it and its just stays in the air

Great ball for the money
June 1, 2015
Took a chance on these balls. Typically play Pro V1, but decided to give these a try. I can't say they are as good as V1, but not bad for the money.
Pros:
Great feel, great price
Cons:

Very soft nut I didn't get any zing off the tee
May 15, 2015
Great ball around the green and for putting but I do not like them off the tee. They just do not fly as far as other balls I have used (ProV1, Pinnacle Exception, Bridgestone e6). I guess everyone has different criteria that they are looking for, I prefer a little harder ball. I ended up giving my wife what I had left (3 sleeves). So my rating may not be useful to everyone, as I tried to express if you are looking for softer feel and more control around the green I would recommend giving these a try.
Pros:
Great feel around the green and on the green. they seem easy to control distance
Cons:
Odd sounding when they come off my driver, kind of a dull thud not a crack that I'm looking for. With my swing these Project (a) give me the least amount of distance.

Good all-around ball
May 14, 2015
This ball fits my game well. I haven't used it enough yet to know whether I will be using it more, but I like the playability from tee to green. While there are softer balls that are more ideal around the green, my game generally prefers the more versatile balls.
