The #1 Amateur Golf Ball at the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro Am

TaylorMade engineers have designed a radically new ball for competitive mid-handicappers who need more approach-shot spin. Project (a) is long off every club and feels great. Best, it helps you generate the extra spin you need to stop the ball closer to the hole, leaving you shorter putts to promote lower scores. Project (a)'s game-changing spin comes from SOFT TECH. TaylorMade's new cast urethane cover that's specially formulated to be soft, durable, and very responsive. And the performance was validated almost immediately:

At the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, more amateurs put their trust in the performance of Project (a) than any other ball. The challenging courses of the Monterey Peninsula are the ultimate proving grounds and an incredible 83 amateur golfers played Project (a). Nearest competitor model? 25. When the dust settled and the leaderboard was final on Sunday, Project (a) helped bring home the victory to seal another #1 for the week. The most discerning amateur golfers in the world saw incredible distance off the tee, and increased spin around the greens where amateur golfers need it the most. The cast urethane cover enables superior greenside performance to stop the ball closer to the pin for shorter putts and lower scores. Imagine the performance gains you’ll see when you try Project (a).

3 pc. 360 dimple. Soft Tech urethane cover. 86 ball compression

Love this golf ball!!
April 28, 2015
I'm a 7 hcp and was reluctant to buy 3 dozen balls w/ Practice on it. The Practice is Very small on the ball. The ball itself performs as good as ProV1, even though the feel is a little different. I have a driver swing speed over 105, but did not lose any yardage. Around the greens they are equally great and soft. I would compare this ball to the TM Penta TP3 or Bridgestone RX B330.
Pros:
Playability durability and price

These are the same balls except the word "Practice" on them. Why pay $32 a dozen. Got 3 dozen for $45 These have to be the best balls for the above average amateurs.
Pros:
Great spin on the greens with a very durable cover.
Cons:
NONE

New ball, practice stamped
April 23, 2015
If you don't mind the superficial "PRACTICE" stamp on the ball, don't pass this deal up! Has some bite on the greens, and miss-hit tee shots have a chance to stay on the fairway.
Pros:
Great feel off the tee and around the greens

Distance is pretty good but spin on full and 3/4 wedges and short irons is terrific.

Project (a) Practice Golf Balls
April 8, 2015
I ordered the Ammo Box of Taylor Made Project (a) practice balls and they were just as advertised. Played like brand new balls with excellent performance. I was a little skeptical buying so called "practice" balls, but after reading the many positive reviews, I decided to pull the trigger. Boy was I glad I did! The balls arrived quickly and all were new, quality balls that play just like a premium golf ball. I even like the word "practice" in small print on the ball as I use that as my alignment guide on putts. All in all, I am very satisfied with this purchase and will be buying more in the future. Thanks Scratch!
Pros:
Premium quality 3 piece ball Urethane cover gives great feel Excellent playability Great price
Cons:

Long-N-Soft
March 3, 2015
Love this ball. With a 85-90mph swing I get around 240 on the drive and am still able to hit it high and stop it quick on the greens. These look new, no marks at all. the practice stamp is the only noticeable difference from a retail bought ball.

I love these golf balls. Perfect for the amateur.
February 28, 2015
Imagine having a $35 dollar/dz golf ball in your bag, but specifically tailored to an amateur with a mid-range swing speed. I swing the Driver 90-93 MPH due to back issues, and this ball has everything. Feel and spin around the greens, great distance off the tee (not the longest, but the feel and correction make up for the 5 yards I lose compared to a Top Flite Rock). I've bought 10 ammo boxes of these, and I've compared them playing it against the Callaway Hex Chrome, Bridgestone Tour B330s, Pro V1, Pro V1x, and the Nike PD Soft and this one is hands down the winner. Pick them up before they are gone. Taylormade has a winner on it's hands, here.
Pros:
Feel/Spin - Great greenside control. I bounce one and stop with 8-PW and spin the 50/58 degree back. Distance is very consistent - I'd give it an 8-10 compared to a 2 piece Top Flite Durability - Depending on whether I catch cartpath, I can play one for 2-3 rounds with very few blemishes (Not that I don't lose them. It is a ball targeted for Amateurs)
Cons:
The SLIGHTLY noticeable center line. Aside from that, this is just a performer.

Outstanding Ball - even better at RBG price. Pretty much unbeatable.

No reason to invest $3 or more per other balls with these available. Awesome feel. plenty of spin and distance as well. No need to sacrifice to play a great ball!
Pros:
Feel and overall performance
Cons:
None that I've found.
