With new Boomerang face technology, for longer shots

An uncompromising design approach, the XCG5 fairway features an innovative titanium cup face and crown, a beta titanium face insert for added distance, and a heavy tungsten sole plate that provides 68% of the club head�s total weight. In fact, the XCG5 is the only fairway wood on the market to use a titanium cupped face and tungsten sole. The titanium offers exceptional distance while the tungsten allows for a smaller more traditional-sized head with a low center of gravity - and the combination delivers driver-like distance with remarkable forgiveness. The XCG5 fairway wood delivers a new benchmark in performance. Unlike other fairway woods, we�ve eliminate welding by brazing the titanium and tungsten parts. Extremely expensive, combo-brazing is utilized when only the highest-quality joint is needed. The parts must be fitted to 1/1000 of an inch and the base metals must be exceptionally clean and free of oxides. The process is expensive because it is performed inside a vacuum chamber over several hours. The end result is exceptional because it greatly reduces residual part stresses by using slow heating and cooling cycles. This in turn, significantly improves the thermal and mechanical properties of the material for longer better feeling shots. Tour Edge engineers will help you set new distance records with our Boomerang face design. This super-charged design offers multiple levels of variable face thickness that make the most of the rebound effect from more points on the face. The V-shaped boomerangs allow for thinner and thicker areas on the face that produce a hotter launch and superlative feel even on off center hits.

I am a 5 handicap and have tried all the popular fairway woods out there including the rocketballs and none of them are as automatic as this club. Finds the fairway like nothing i have ever used, the distance is also as long or longer than other's. Just simply the best i've played bar none and at a great price too!

The sound is muted at impact and, yet, the launch speaks for itself. I have had this for a few rounds now...like anything new, not great at first but the last couple rounds, I've hit it excellently. Yesterday, had a downhill, into-the-wind 228 yd par 3...left my first one out a bit and thought it might be lost in the desert, so hit a provisional...I kid you not...it LANDED one INCH from the hole, went into back bunker, which was only 6 paces from the hole. Also, a 248 downhill crosswind shot..hit it onto green for about a 50 foot putt. Sets up a bit open to my eye but I'm learning to trust! Also, for short par 4s, this is fantastic, esp if I'm a bit off with the driver!

this is the best fairway wood ever hit . Super long of tee. but will lauch high off tight fairway lies. Miss hits still carry with very little left to right swings .. sets up great to the ball no to open but square. Love the sound let you know when you really hit one. Bought a Taylormade Burner 2.0 Sold after three swings .. This is 100 % better club.

Club hit hot off tee and great out of fairway . By far the hottest 3 wood ever hit. Bought taylormade last week sold after first round. It has,nothing on this one

Good golf is boring golf

I returned to golf 3 seasons ago. I started with a good set for that stage of the learning process. Last year I went shopping for better clubs...especially fairway woods as that was the weakest part of my game. I came across the Exotics 3 and 5 fairway woods on RBG with a review much like what was said by "Very Solid". Now I have replaced my driver with my 3 wood and bought the rescue 3 hybrid to add to the collection. With these clubs I just focus on good balance, a good slow swing, keep my head down and follow through to aim at the middle of my target zone. If I do those things I don't need to bend the ball around trees or other obstructions because I land in the fairway with the optimum straight shot to the next landing zone... BORING. I have gone from a +100 play to playing mid 80s / low 90s. I am excited to get out and build on this improvement this year. Just buy it!! You'll see.

Played a new course with some tight tee shots. Only used driver on first hole on front 9 hit every fairway first time using it.

Pros:

Very accurate. Ez to hit off tee and in fairway

Cons:

Used to hit CB3 didn't seem as long as old club but was first time hitting it
