2 piece or 3 piece ? Whatever.... GREAT value!
December 18, 2014
I am posting this review in the interest of current and future Wilson Zip players. I have dug deeper on the internet and have come accross the following info:
* Until 2010 the Zip was a THREE piece ball. The 3 piece was then replaced/continued under the Wilson C:25 line (a 3 piece ball which may play SLIGHTLY firmer due to a slightly firmer/harder cover than the Zip of old)
* From 2010 onward, the Zip became a TWO piece ball, essentially losing the mantle (3rd piece) but retaining the same zero compression core and very soft cover.
I read up on the Wilson Zip specifically but nonetheless (whether it was a 2 or 3 piece ball) stocked up HEAVILY on this ball due to pre 2010 AND post 2010 (near 5 star !) reviews of this ball. I have personal knowledge of the QUALITY products (irons and balls) Wilson produces so you can't go wrong, ESPECIALLY price wise with this ball !
You just have to rub two Wilson Zips OR Wilson C:25's in one hand to feel how soft (even) the covers are ! ..Even much softer than the Wilson Elite 50's which is the softest ball I have ever played !
Thanks Wilson for putting these low compression balls out there with soft covers ! After some injuries, I appreciate being able to hit a ball without shock carrying through my wrists, up my arms, and into my rotator cuffs and back !
Pros:Soft soft soft !
