COOLSHOT 40i Laser Rangefinder

Coolshot 40i Intro

Eliminate the Stress

The Nikon COOLSHOT 40i Golf Laser Rangefinder features ID Technology, allowing stress-free club selection when facing a shot with elevation change. When in Golf Mode, the COOLSHOT 40i displays slope-adjusted distance as well as to-the-target distance. This ID (Incline/Decline) Technology feature eliminates second-guessing on how far uphill or downhill a shot will play. With so many unforgiving elements on a golf course, don't let elevation change be one of them.

Yardage Definition

Define the Yardages of Each Club in Your Bag

Knowing your personal yardages for every club will give you an extra advantage when facing difficult shots during play. By using a COOLSHOT 40i golf laser rangefinder to learn your distances while you train, you’ll gain the precise knowledge you need to improve your score on the course.

Golf Mode

Slope-Compensating Golf Mode

Using Nikon's ID (Incline/Decline) Technology

Get the slope adjusted distance for any uphill or downhill shot, thanks to the all new Golf Mode – found only in Nikon’s COOLSHOT 40i golf laser rangefinder. By utilizing Nikon’s highly advanced ID Technology, you can be confident that you have an accurate angle-compensated distance, so that you can select the right club and hit the ball at the proper trajectory.

First Target Priority

First Target Priority Mode

The First Target Priority Mode feature displays the range to the nearest target among the multiple results obtained. This assures that the measurement shown is the pin and not any objects in the background.

Hyper Read Tech

HYPER READ Technology

With HYPER READ Technology, you will receive extremely quick measurement display, regardless of the distance. This will allow you to get quick readings to various points on your approach.

8 Second Measurement

8-Second Continuous Measurement

One push (and hold) of the Power button and the rangefinder will continuously measure the range for eight seconds. This is useful when trying to find measurements of multiple or very small or thin objects, allowing you to know the distance to hazards, pins, mounds, and trees in one push of the button. With this feature, you have the ability to scan across the green to easily pick out a flagstick from the background.

Coolshot 40i Dimensions

An Accessory That Won’t Weigh You Down

On those warm summer days on the course, even the lightest golf bags can seem like a load. That’s why the COOLSHOT 40i golf laser rangefinder was designed to be extremely lightweight and compact. Whether stowed conveniently in your pocket or attached to your bag, you’ll hardly even notice the six and a half extra ounces of this portable laser rangefinder.

Great for the price!
Really like this compared to using my GPS. The slope reading makes a big difference on the courses I play. I have found it difficult getting use to trying to pick out a flag if it’s laying flat but otherwise great.

Laser Edge
The range finder was a little bit confusing getting to the different modes. However, once I got it set to my liking, it worked great. Great range finder for the price.
ProsGreat visual and easily finds the flag.
ConsA little difficult getting to the modes you want. Rather than two buttons operating the modes, it wold be better to have a three way switch.

Just Not A Refined Product
Bought this and it seemed to work very well. Three weeks in it would no longer pick up the flag so I exchanged it for a new one. The second had the oil spots on the inside of the lens so I returned it for a credit and bought a Bushnell which seems to be heads and shoulders above this unit.

Excellent Rangefinder
This rangefinder is accurate and easy to read. The only drawback is that it takes 4 or 5 tries with my shaky hands to shoot the correct target. Easier to use sitting in a golf cart than standing.

Great Rangefinder for the price.
I have been using a SkyGolf GPS that I purchased here on Rock Bottom Golf. I use both now on the course. I like the ease of use of the Nikon Coolshot 40i. It gives me a great perspective thru the rangefinder to see what the view looks like on the green.

I returned it
It seems to fall short of my expectations and bushnell still seems to be the best out there

Great for the price
You can't ask for a better tool for the price. i did a lot of research before i pulled the trigger and bought this and i love it. I played a round the other day and it did everything i wanted it to do but put the golf ball in the cup. Just like any laser its only as good as how still you are. and it tells you aim for the flag not the pin. so if you follow what it says you can't lose.
Proseasy to read great optics faster than i thought
Constook some time to figure out how to turn on or off the setting you want but once you learn the trick its easy

oil spots in viewfinder
I bought a Nikon 40i rangefinder. The first time I took it to the course oil spots appeared in the viewfinder. I contacted Nikon and they asked me to send the unit in for repair. I asked them for a prepaid shipping label. Initially they did not want to do that, but after arguing with them they emailed me the return label. I sent my unit in to Nikon, and two days later received back from them a new unit. They had chosen to replace my original unit. I took the new unit out to the course and by the middle of the round oil spots again appeared inside the viewfinder. I contacted Nikon again, and they are sending me another return label to return the unit. There are issues with oil spots in the viewfinder with this product. Buyer beware. The product has been out only a couple months so I am sure you will see more posts like this.
