History Of Ram Golf
1946
A young engineer from Minnesota opened the Hansberger Tool
and Die Company.
1948
McGregor decided to divest himself from manufacturing and
Hansberger Tool and Die purchased and formed Sportsman's®
Golf Corporation.
1950
The first and scoring machine was installed.
1951
A fire at the facility destroyed part of the building and
most of the inventory.
1956
The Hubbard Street location became too small to accommodate
the volume of business generated, and Sportsman's purchased
a tract of land in Melrose Park, Illinois and built a new
25,000 square foot office and manufacturing facility.
1958
The first automatic boring machine for woods was installed.
1960
The George Low Wizard ® Putter Line was introduced.
1965
A new 107,000 Sq. Ft. manufacturing facility was built in
Mississippi to produce balls and bags.
1966
The RAM Golf Ball was introduced.
1967
It was decided to consolidate all of the companies under the
name of RAM Golf Corporation.
1972
The Golden Ram ® forged iron was introduced.
1974
Colgate purchased RAM Golf.
1980
The new owners purchased all manufacturing equipment, trademarks
and patents for Zebra putters from Dale Taylor, son of the
inventor.
1982
RAM Golf became the first manufacturer to frequency match
golf clubs.
1985
RAM Golf introduced the RAM Golf Wizard Computer Club Fitting
Program.
1986
RAM Golf became the exclusive distributor for the PGA Clothing
Collectoin.
1987
RAM Golf became affiliated with Country Club Systems, Inc.
1989
Marked the year RAM Laser ® FX® forged cavity-back
irons were introduced to the market.
1997
The TearDrop Gof Company purchased most of the assets of RAM
Golf Company.
1999
A new line if ZEBRA putters was introduced under the brand
name TearDrop.
