Sonocaddie’s revolutionary user interface actually shows YOUR position on the course. As you move to the next stroke location, your position is shown and the distances to each critical target are continually updated and shown in real time! Other Features:
Sunlight Viewable Touch Screen: The high resolution backlight screen is viewable even in bright sunlight.
Touch Point Positioning: Sonocaddie V500 allows you to touch any point on the color layout/satellite image of the hole and immediately see the distance from you to that point- and from that point to the green.
Digital Scorecard and Game Analysis:
Your paper scorecard. The Sonocaddie will automatically calculate the total score with the simple touch of a button, so you will easily know how you did on the front 9 and the back 9 holes. At the end of eighteen, Sonocaddie will present a summary of your round complete with statistics and the score.
Personalized Course Information: What golfers love about Sonocaddie is that they can make changes or corrections to the reference points right on the spot. You may change the given course information, and add or delete some of the reference points as the course may change over time.
Track Your Game: Sonocaddie can record locations for each shot right on the screen, and can automatically trace waypoints during the round. The information can be stored to Sonocaddie so you may review the round and each shot at a later date.
Satellite Imagery (Optional w/ V500 Membership):
See the actual image with yardage information when you are playing! Sonocaddie V500 provides golfers the "full picture" on each hole with satellite imagery and precise distance information from your location. The image will be adjusted to fit on one screen, so you will not need to scroll the screen to see the entire hole, for example if it is a long Par 5.
Video Flyover (Optional w/ V500 Membership): The V500 Video Flyover gives you a 5-second overview of the entire hole from tee to green showing you the direction and description of the fairway in advance so you can plan your strategy. Great for playing a new course or looking around a dog-leg!

I purchased the V500 about 2 months ago and have nothing but good reports about the GPS on course. My only issue with the V500 is that when I go to download courses, I find it hard to connect when I have followed all the correct procedures from booklet, I wanted to download a new course today and have not been able to get the course I am after, I had the same problem when I first got the device.
Pros:
Everything fantastic unit apart from the downloading process for new courses
Cons:
Downloading courses connecting with the link between computer and Sonocaddie unit, has come up with an error when I first purchased which I thought was resolved, and now just today the same problem when I am playing a course tomorrow which I have not downloaded
I would recommend this item to a friend.
