Best milled putter I've owned
February 10, 2013
This putter made by STX didn't get a lot of press in the major golf magazine reviews compared to the other major OEMs but when I tried putting it in a local golf shop I was really amazed at the looks, the weight and feel. The head is 303 stainless steel and 100% milled and a hefty 350 gms. The design is very aesthetic and pleasing to look at address with a single lime green dot painted exactly at the center of the sweet spot (not the center of the face), the milled lines of the mallet seems to melt into background and gives the feeling of the head floating freely in space giving the confidence to make a smooth putting stroke. The other unique feature of this putter is the diamond pattern milled right into the steel face. The reduced contact areas when striking the ball feels amazingly soft like an elastomer insert ! It feels like the ball is on the face for a fraction of a second longer than the other 303 SS putters that I have tried or owned. The grip is also a very nice pistolero style with a nice firm but tacky feeling when holding the putter. Now all i need to do is make some putts with this beauty!
Pros:Artistry and minimal design of the head gives a nice flow when looking down at address. The heavy 350 gram weight has a good feel of gravity doing its work. The diamond milling pattern of the face gives a very soft feel when putting any golf ball. Easy to control speed with these factors. The fluorescent green paint fill with the grey contrast is also very pleasing and relaxing to the eyes too.
Cons:I wish the head cover looked a little fancier with a magnetic closure instead of velcro.
