Great ball. These may just surprise you
April 4, 2022
I will preface this review to include that I played golf in highschool, college and I was a club pro for five years. I had always played the premium Titleist balls of the day. Tour Balatas, Professionals and then finally Pro-V1s.
Now that I am out of the golf business and don't get free golf balls anymore, It really bothers me to pay $50 for 12 golf balls. So this past winter instead of wasting pro-vs on essentially practice rounds and losing balls in fairways due to leaf cover or balls plugging in unusually wet areas, I decided to buy a couple dozen of the cheapest yellow balls I could find at my local sports store. They were Callaway Warbird 2.0.
Off the driver they are great. Not much spin and do really well into the wind. I believe I have gained a few yards because of this. Of the irons I have gained maybe 1/2 a club due to the decreased spin. Which isn't bad during winter months. But what really surprised me is how they performed into the greens. They bite really well. They don't suck back like a premium ball but they do stop right next to their divot on full iron shots. I get a few yards roll out with the longer irons.
On partial shots around the green the launch higher off of the wedge and will get a few yards more roll. But honestly that's something you can practice with and adjust for. They don't go bounding over the greens like I was expecting. They performed so well I bought two more boxes and used them on a golf trip with a bunch of guys with a lot of gambling and I never thought I would need a more spinny ball. I will be using this for the rest of the year and honestly don't see me ever buying a premium ball again.
Great price and surprising performance.
None that I can think of at this price point. Great overall ball.
