Not good for water balls
September 5, 2017
I had an inexpensive retriever that I liked. Lost it. This one does not work well when ball is on muddy lake bottom. Just pushes the ball under mud.
ProsStrong. Well built.
ConsDoes not work well on muddy lake bottoms.

I'm not always in play and seem to find water constantly. I've had the gotcha for 2 weeks and it's already paid for itself. Great tool
Best ball retriever

Small & compact so it fits in your golf bag side pockets and doesn't take room where your clubs go like most retrievers. Works perfect
ProsEverything about it
Great for hard ground, terrible if not

This is a heavy retriever. It does fit in the big pocket of my Ping Hoofer, but due to weight, I wouldn't leave in the bag if I am carrying my bag. For this device to work, the ball needs to bend the spring in the middle of the ring to trigger the "grab". This works well if the floor of the water is solid/hard. If the floor is soft however, it is impossible to get the spring to engage. Consider the area you try and retrieve balls most often when choosing this type of device.
ProsSturdy and long Great for hard bottomed ponds/lakes
ConsHeavy Difficult to use if pond/lake has a soft bottom
