The ET2 shaft is an upgrade of the original ETA model Golf Shaft and was manufactured with “Feel”, “Control”, and “Distance” as the primary design drivers. All other parameters (Mechanical and Physical) compliment these three design attributes.

The TBAR Algorithm is the determining flex factor, although penley does apply some common flex range description to help players determine which golf shaft is best suited for their level of play. Note: Carter Penley developed a specific flex range for the professional level player (PGA, LPGA, Long Drive and aspiring amateurs) and denotes that flex as ‘Z’. Players of this level may want to contact the factory to determine if the production mid-range TBAR shaft is suitable for their specific swing. The original ETA design was carried one step farther to include a range of players who play a better than average game of golf and specifically are endeavoring to improve on ‘Distance’ and ‘Control’. To accomplish this design application Carter Penley concentrated on player inconsistencies that generally affect control and distance (refer to article “Locating Spine” by Carter Penley). The major challenge of the ET2 project was to design and manufacture a golf shaft that would counteract some or all of these player inconsistencies therefore allowing a player to improve their game and most importantly lower their score-

Penley, so good.

I usually do my own club work, but I invested in this shaft and had an expert do the job. The feel of this shaft is unbelievable, and I was playing a higher end shaft until it broke recently. I don't think I'll ever go back, excellent work by Penley.

Excellent upgrade shaft!
July 1, 2016
I was introduced to this shaft by one of the pro's at my course. I wasn't happy with the stock shaft in my new M2 driver and my pro suggested I demo the Penley. I did demo the Penley and a couple other aftermarket upgrade shafts and boy, what a difference! I chose the Penley mainly because of the feel, it has a soft feel but doesn't play soft. I'm gaining about 10 to 15 yards with it but more importantly, I am much more accurate with it. This shaft is awesome, it just goes straight all the time and that was the biggest issue with the stock shaft...it wasn't giving me good control, it was inconsistent but the Penley is the exact opposite, the control factor is great! This is a great shaft and the price is great, compared to some of the other upgrade shafts out there.
ProsFeel and control.
ConsIt is a bit heavy at 70 grams, about 67 grams cut to length but, after hitting the heavier shaft, I really can't say I can even tell. It feels great and maybe the extra weight contributes to the control factor.

Great shaft!

I bought two other shafts, a Fuji Pro S flex and a Aldila Roque S flex, the Fuji was OK but inconsistent, the Roque was boardy and HATED it. Bought the ET2 mid Stiff and it is BUTTER smooth, great feel and so predictable. I read the Independent shaft review for the ET2 shaft and was sold, glad I did, it's AWESOME! Long, smooth, great control, great feel = GREAT SHAFT and, it's WAY cheaper than other shafts that don't perform as well. Buy it, you'll love it. They do play stiffer, so go down a half flex and DON'T tip it!

This is a great shaft!

I put the S flex ET2 in a SLDR head and it is SO much better than the stock shaft. I had severe control issues with the stock shaft and now, it's like the club is on autopilot! It was military golf before...left then right, etc but now, it just goes straight no matter how easy or hard I swing. I did pick some distance, maybe 5 to 8 yards but the control gain is HUGE! I really like the soft feel and how easy it is to hit. I will buy a fairway shaft for my 3 wood. Great shaft, great results and a good price for what you get, I really appreciate it!
ProsGreat control, great feel, better performance and a good price.
ConsI probably woudl opt for a more traditional color on the shaft, maybe like the older black/yellow Penley shafts but that's a minor thing.

Hands down, the BEST feeling shaft I have ever hot! Feels soft but loads and unloads SO consistently! What a great shaft!
ProsAbsolutely bends the same on every swing. The most consistent performing shaft I've ever hit! Very powerful, I'm a good 10 yards longer with it and much more accurate. For the price, it's way better than shafts I've paid 3 times as much for, it's a GREAT value!
ConsNot a single thing!
